In April 2023, the Norwegian Tunnelling Network and Sovik Consulting contributed with presentations on the tunnel seminar in Dehradun, India. The Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and the World Road Association (PIARC), were organizing partners. The main topics were advances in design, construction and operation of tunnels.

A well organized event with a two day seminar and one day technical visit, where we learned about the latest advances in India. India is a great potensial for Norway with many new infrastructure projects, including long road, rail and metro tunnels.
The Norwegian Tunnelling Network followed up this opportunity by presenting us for the industry, started a dialog with the Norwegian embassy and Innovation Norway, but also contributed with international knowledge and experience to the Indian tunnel community.

Norwegian Tunnelling Network have therefore started a dialog to increase cooperation between the Indian Tunnelling Industry and the Norwegian tunnelling community. A first step in the process is to formalize a future partnership between the nations by signing a memorandum of understanding between the governments. The Norwegian Tunnelling Network contribute by assisting the process and start practical activities to connect the industries.
